NWDC is in transition from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University to its new home at the School of Veterinary Medicine at University of Pennsylvania (Penn Vet). Julie begins her new position at Penn Vet on September 1, 2018. Penn Vet is home to PADLS New Bolton Center (NBC), a participating NWDC diagnostic laboratory, which several of you have used for necropsy, CWD testing, and toxicology. PADLS NBC offers an extensive array of testing services including heavy metals (e.g. lead, mercury), anticoagulant rodenticides, avicides, mycotoxins, algal toxins, and insecticides in wildlife. The Penn Vet Working Dog Center serves as a national research and development center for detection dogs. The Working Dog Center is interested in projects relevant to wildlife conservation including training scent dogs to detect invasive species, cryptic species, and pathogens of wildlife. If your agency has project ideas related to wildlife health that might benefit from a trained scent dog, please let us know. We look forward to taking advantage of all that Penn Vet has to offer!
